Alternately, make them all icons (or all text, maybe user's choice?), there wouldn't be such an obvious discrepancy then.

My 20081126 Thunderbird/3.0b1pre says the others are now 1px taller than trash :)

yeah, your ui font is smaller (what would be 9 here); mine is 10, and the trash button height does not follow those changes.

Similar problem exists when message header is collapsed.  The Delete button is only 19px high, whereas all the other textual buttons are 22px high.  See attachment.  Would be nice if they were all same height.

It's unclear whom this bug effects in exactly which circumstances and how often.  Adding qawanted in the hopes that someone will take the time to nail that down in more detail, and, if appropriate, nominate for blocking or wanted in Tb3.

This problem happens consistently on Vista on every message.  A simple solution would be to change the delete button to display text ("delete") rather than an icon (trash can image).  Note, that the text buttons (reply, forward, mark as junk) change height when the message header is expanded/collapsed (show/hide details), BUT the delete button does not change height.

There is still some difference in size between items that have icons and those that have only text. I wonder if this is a duplicate of https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=519688 ?
