We need to update the major update window for the Firefox 2 end of life. When we do this, we need to call out that phishing protection is now turned off and that's an important reason to upgrade to Firefox 3. This should also be the "scary" message.

There's a lot of issues with window sizes and stuff...
Will there be any change to the URL ? Currently it's
  http://www.mozilla.com/%locale%/firefox/3.0/details/index.html
Blocks: 464351
No, there will be no change to the URL.
can i get details on the text to be translated and the timeline for that so as to start localization ? Thanks
Pascal, I'm still working on the text, but I'll post it here. The timeline is early January for a major update from Firefox 2.0.0.19 to 3.0.5.
Sounds like this doesn't block 2.0.0.18 --> 3.0.4
No longer blocks: 464351
David's going to work on this bug this week.

Actually, JSlater is going to take my first cut combined with Sam's comments and make a more polished reco later this week. Do we have a deadline? Like by 12/12 to be done?
The sooner the better for localization. I'd aim for 12/12, yes.
Sam, Dave and I have come up with the copy shown below. Steven, can you make these changes? If you could do this by Monday that'd be great...we want to be able to hand this over to the localizers soon.

Here are the details:

page - http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/3.0/details/

headline: Firefox Security Alert!
subhead: Immediate upgrade recommended.
body copy:
* Your current browser is no longer supported.
* _Upgrade to Firefox 3_ to stay secure.

link for 'upgrade to Firefox 3': http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

Thanks,
John

Done in trunk in r20844.
I've pushed this to stage and am going to call the bug FIXED. I'll push it live after Firefox 2.0.0.19 ships (so users don't see the new window).

Pascal, you're on. Let me know if you have any questions or if I can help with anything to get this page localized.

FWIW, some partner users will probably see the new text but I don't think that's any issue at all.
