User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b3pre) Gecko/20090210 Shiretoko/3.1b3pre Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b3pre) Gecko/20090210 Shiretoko/3.1b3pre I can reproduce this 100% using 3.1b2 Milestone beta build and 2/10/09 Nightly B3 build every time on both NT 6.x platforms. I saw similar bug reports for the Enter Key, but Enter Key doesn't work at all updating the URL on the Windows NT 6.x platform, cannot confirm on other platforms. Latest 3.0.6 build works just fine. I was surprised this has not been reported and confirmed as a known bug as I could not find this specific bug report in Bugzilla and didn't see it mentioned, I believe this is usability showstopper. Only the -> Arrow icon will go to a new website Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install 3.1B2 2. Go to Address Bar 3. Change web address either with AutoComplete/Dropdown Panel or Manual entry 4. Press enter Actual Results: No response after pressing Enter, new URL is never loaded. Expected Results: Enter Key should work 100% of the time after changing the URL to load new website. It works 100% of the time on 3.0.6 just fine for Windows NT 6.x

I expect that.. Reporter: Does it work if you disable the AVG Addon in tools/addons ?
i am experiencing the same bug, and it does not work if you turn off the AVG addon. some more info, if you open the error console while using firefox, you get A LOT of errors on nearly every "keyup" action. Particularly when you press enter on the address bar, it says: "Warning: The 'charCode' property of a keyup event should not be used. The value is meaningless. Source File: chrome://browser/content/browser.xul Line: 0" i believe this may shed some light on the source of the problem, but im not familiar enough with the source code to fix it myself.

Dario: Did you tried the Firefox safemode ? Did you restarted Firefox after you disabled the addon ?
Had this same issue (enter did not send browser to the location entered into the location bar) - Also if you began typing an address and selected one of the prompted lists (history ect) it would do nothing until you hit the arrow. Disabling the AVG addon and restarting DID fix the issue. Would still leave this as an important bug!!

for any AVG issue please refer to bug 475653. Remaining issues please try Safe Mode: http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Reporter: please report if your issue is still there after disabling AVG add-on and in Safe Mode.

Testing 3.1B2 Milestone on NT 6.0 Disabling the AVG add-on did allow the Enter key to work properly and resolved this issue. Using Safe+Mode didn't appear to change any behavior or affect this after disabling the AVG add-on.

I forgot to mention I also did a restart after disabling the AVG add-on similar to Comment #5.

marking as dupe of bug 475653 For Michael: this is no bug in our product and that's the reason bug 475653 is marked invalid. It's a bug in the AVG addon.
