This is the same code all over the site - it's just that these search engines are so old the icons are 16x16 so you notice.  Some other icons are resized from 16x16 (Site Information Tool in search listings) and others are resized from odd dimensions like 28x32 or 24x32, etc.  This is a design decision to keep the page consistent.  Hopefully it encourages people to upload 32x32 versions of their icons.

Yea, I noticed that too but Wil's right, it's a problem with the specific add-ons you pointed out here.
