User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.11) Gecko/2009061118 Fedora/3.0.11-1.fc10 Firefox/3.0.11
Build Identifier: version 2.0.0.21 (20090320)

The list of "recent" folders shown for Move-to or Copy-to is only updated after leaving and restarting thunderbird

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Move a message to a folder A which is not yet in recent
2. Go again into the move-to folder: the folder A is not yet in the list
3. Leave Thunderbird
4. Restart Thunderbird
5. The folder A is now in the list
Actual Results:
Folders to which I recently moved messages to don't show up in the Recent list within the same session

Expected Results:
Folders to which I move or copy a message to should show up in the "Recent" list as soon as possible, even without needing to restart the program.
WFM on Windows beta 3.

You can try with Linux beta 3?
Whiteboard: closeme 2009-07-23
I can confirm the same happens with Thunderbird 2.0.0.22 running on Windows XP.
Fritz, could you try to see if it still happens with
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/nightly/latest-comm-1.9.1/ ?
pretty sure this is fixed on trunk.
you can confirm by trying a recent beta 3

Fritz, do you also see this using the beta?

Wayne, I haven't tried the Beta because this is on my company computer and I can't really use it for experimenting. FWIW, the bug is still there in 2.0.0.23 which I installed today as a security update.
I gave 3.0b4pre a try (on Windows XP) without uninstalling my 2.0; result was still the same - the recent list is only updated after restarting Thunderbird. BTW, I nearly cancelled the install when I saw the project name - "Shredder" does not sound like something I want near my precious data :-)
Easy to reproduce using comment 0, so confirming. but I don't know if it's 100% reproducible. It doesn't seem to matter if it's a copy vs a move, or a drag vs using folder tree via context menu

Fritz, Alain, thanks for the results. I made a mistake by going by recent observation and not using the exact steps of comment 0.

I observe the same on linux version TB v3.0b4.

As of now, recent list is not useful since when I try to
manually distribute many articles to a handful of folders [in a somewhat
nested hierarchy]. I have to manually search for the destination
folder since recent list is not updated. If it is updated each time, it would
be very useful such operation.

Hope it gets fixed soon.

TIA
I /think/ I saw the same in SeaMonkey on, oh, let's say one of the three latest nightlies including this one:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.8pre) Gecko/20091224 Lightning/1.0b2pre SeaMonkey/2.0.2pre - Build ID: 20091224000228
I am having same problem here with 3.1.2 on Windows XP Professional.

I will be waiting for fix so I can give to client/user.

sincerely,
Sandra
I am using Thunderbird 3.1.10 (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.17) Gecko/20110516 Lightning/1.0b2 Thunderbird/3.1.10). And the bug still exists.
this is fixed in TB 5.0 by the fix for bug 370324
