These functions should be able to update or replace default engines if: - the update is served over SSL - the default engine supplies an update URL - the update URL matches the new engine's location
Ryan, so user installed search plug-ins are getting overwritten right now?
This bug has nothing to do with user-installed search plugins. It's about letting the default engines force an update to their search plugins from their websites.
This is a pretty important part of bug 511017 - so if that winds up blocking, this should as well.
