Build 2000082915 WinNT 4.0 In todays builds the layout of the What's Related sidebar panel has changed. I preferred the style of the old one as it was similar to the other built in Mozilla sidebars and was also easy to read. This new sidebar panel just looks like a third party addon sidebar. Also the font size used on this panel is harder to read than the previous version.

Changing assigned to and QA emails addresses based on those for bug 50594. Reading this bug it looks like the new sidebar has some useful enhancements but I think I preferred the apearance of the old sidebar. Although the good thing about the new sidebar is that it doesn't have all the Netscape sponsored links (I assume they'll be in NS6) but I just prefer the old sidebar. But then again it could just be me, so what do others think?

The appearance is bad enough. The link is worse. Alexa is owned by Amazon.com. Software patents place open source projects in danger, and Amazon has allready shown that they will misuse the horked US patent system. (1 click shopping patent). I'd prefer the Netscape links to anything from Amazon.

amazon? It has showed in the past that is unethnical. Not only with software patents, but also with selling user data, which is relevant here. I suggest removing it from the shippping options and leave it up to Netscape to provide it as additional net-based panel. We can reconsider adding "What's related", when we have a panel that queries another provider (e.g. dmoz.org). This should be possible without server-side support.

Changing SUMMARY from "Old-style What's related sidebar preferred" to more general "Shipping What's related panel". Yell, if you disagree.
Summary: Old style What's related sidebar preferred → Shipping What's related panel

Reassigning 50 Sidebar bugs to Matt. I was told this was going to be done shortly about two months ago, but it clearly hasn't been. I think that's long enough for all these bugs to remain assigned to nobody. Feel free to filter all this spam into the trashcan by looking for this string in the message body: ducksgoquack

I've got used to this so I won't disagree with the WONTFIX. I see Netscape 6.1 still uses the old style What's related but requires a double click to activate the links, this is annoying. I'm sure in the Mozilla builds before the old style what's related was removed it had been changed to activate on a single click, how did the commercial builds not get those changes?
