Most of the arrived mail-list mails are filtered from accounts Inboxes to the corresponding Local folders. When these filtered new mails arrive there is no New mail alert popup. (The New mail tray icon appears though). The New mail alert popup apears _only_ if message stays in account Inbox (or account subfolders). Is this a bug or is this deliberate? Why messages filtered (moved) to Local folders are not included in New mail popup alert? Reproducible: Always

Now I recreated the same folders under their mail accounts, modified the filter to 'Move message' to the folder in the same account (instead of folders in Local folders) and the New mail alert popup starts to work again. So: if a message is moved by filter from standalone account to the folder in Local folders - this message is not included in the New mail alert popup.
Aha! Got it! The newly arrived mail is not included in the New mail alert popup (and does not fire up the New mail alert popup) when the new message is filtered (moved) to the folder located in another account (including folders located in Local folders account).

I can't reproduce here.
We don't alwasy fire the event If I recall correctly. I just don't know what rules do fire events. Rkent could you tell us how things work these days ?

Surely you must know by now that I get into a bad mood whenever I discuss new message management (see bug 507638). In spite of the fact that I've gotten involved with this several times, I always have to get back into the code to figure out which new status does what. I would also be afraid to touch it this late in the TB 3.0 game, as new message statuses are overloaded, which means that you can't always predict what the side effects of a fix will be.
This works for me - I fixed it quite a while ago. Though I can't tell if the user is using pop3 or imap to retrieve the incoming mail. I tried it with IMAP; it might be different with POP3...
Yes, I'm using 4 different POP3 accounts.
I'm confused on why this was changed for V3. I've had this setup filtering to folder with alerts happening for years. In my case I don't get a visual alert, but I get an audible one. So I have to see what folder name is bold to see where the mail came into. Why the audible but not the visual? How is this better? I wish if anything there could be a step to add during a filter setup that would allow for mail alerts. That way a user could decide what they wanted to be alerted to.

My extension ToneQuilla is designed to replace the standard audible alert with specific sounds as a filter action. My extension FiltaQuilla has a filter action "Dont Notify" which will suppress the standard notification for a message as a filter action. This suppresses the message from causing the notification box to raise, but if it is raised by some other message, the supressed message will still appear in the list of new messages. Can't do everything I'm afraid.
ToneQuilla is very nice, thanks. Can't install FiltaQuilla with RC1 though. So is there were a way to add a visual alert option as well to a filter action? Or a way that a filter action would somehow trigger whatever Growl needs to work?

"a filter action would somehow trigger whatever Growl needs to work?" Does anyone know who did the Growl integration, and/or which of the many "new" status indicators are used for that? It was humph right? But I think that the issue is typically suppressing that indicator, as it usually gets generated by default. FiltaQuilla simply subtracts one from NumNewMessages on the folder, which at least works for my Windows XP notification window.
As it is right now, on OSX Growl only works with the main In box mail. Like TB itself, mail that is filtered will not trigger it. The only thing that ever triggers is the TB audible alert, Growl audible doesn't seem to work with anything.
I confirm this bug under TB 3.0 packaged for Fedora Core 12. I'm using a POP3 account with secure authentication and filtering to both account folders and Local folders. When the received email is processed by filters, the pop up never shows.
I also confirm that this is a problem in TB 3.0. I am facing it with all folders other than inbox. I am using IMAP and when filtered mails goes into imap folders, it does not show pop-up. I am not filtering mails to move from IMAP to Local Folders, it is just IMAP folders where I am filtering mails through IMAP connection.
forgive me if this is not accurate, but reads like a duplicate of bug 378582 (except for comment 15). If that's not correct or the summary of bug 378582 needs to be improved, please make the appropriate corrections.
