Animated gifs included as mime attachments in html mails are automatically shown. That is fine.

But it seems like there is no way to stop the animation. 

I would expect Esc to stop it, just like it does in Firefox.

Mads could you save one of those emails where the gif doesn't stop and attach it on the bug ?

Confirming. This is probably a CORE issue - but I'm not sure. Mark Thoughts ?

Bug 605197 hints that image.animation_mode should control this. Setting this in thunderbird works fine. But still: I would expect Esc to stop it.

(My guess would however be that this is a missing key binding rather than a core issue.)
