Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091102 Firefox/3.5.5 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091102 Firefox/3.5.5 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)

I had several downloads going, quite large files. The download window was open, as well as a browser window. I closed the last remaining open browser window - the downloads suddenly zipped across their hundreds of MB and claimed to be completed. The files are not complete, they are now corrupt. I do not know where the links to these files are any longer and will have to search hard to find them, this is a major inconvenience.

Mozilla Firefox should not cancel/complete download progress when the last remaining browser window is closed, it should continue downloading until specifically asked to stop.

it does this to me a lot, but this time it was a major problem.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.find a large file to download, or multiple large files.
2.close all remaining browser windows, leave download window open.
3.all downloads stop/claim complete and corrupt progress
Actual Results:
See above

Expected Results:
Expect Download window to remain downloading files in steady progress instead of canceling.
As there is no warning this is a duplicate of bug 459554.
The fact that Firefox quits is not a bug but design - see bug 590104.
