This WFM on Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091121 Thunderbird/3.0. Not blocking at the moment as there is an easy work around in any case.

WFM on RC1 build1 on linux. Could be a dup of bug 516586 do you also see this issue in safe-mode ?
The issue is present with safe mode. In addition this issue does not seem to be a a dup of bug 516586. Nothing else is being cutoff. It appears that the default size of the window need to be a tad bit bigger. Maybe there is something set like max_height?
This bug is present in the old TB2 and in the new TB3 on MacOSX 10.5 and 10.6. The 'manage identities' button is half hidden. It still works but it is not very elegant.

I think that this could be definid as a dupe of bug #516586 because related to Account Settings and based to height\widht to small... bug #516586 has a patch... I hope that this can fix also this twin bug. Feel free to reopen if, after patch on bug #516586 has landed the issue is still here.

How says Andreas in bug #516586 comment #35, >I think I want to do that one as a separate patch, so I'll attach a >patch to the other bug report for that one if it's ok. I reopen this bug.

This is slightly ridiculous (no offense devs). It has been over a year for what would appear as a simple problem, and no progress has been made. Given that most “average” users don't even read the whole contents of windows, if a button is hidden in an out of view area (something most users would think “can just be fixed by making the window bigger”), the average user will never even know the “manage identities” button exists. Anyway, thanks for the hard-work, we just want a perfect Thunderbird! ;)

Yes, that is unfortunate. It's just that it's really hard to fix in a good way. If we make the window taller, it would show the button. However, that also means we have the issue that on smaller screens (think netbooks) the window would become too tall for the screen. We could fix that by reducing the number of controls in the window, or to rearrange them to make things fit better. What items do we take out? How do we solve this in a simple way?

(In reply to comment #10) > Just to say that this bug still occure on thunderbird 3.0.1 + ubuntu 9.10 64 > bits. Yes, this exists on 3.0, but not in the newer versions (as far as I can see). Can you try with a nightly build http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/nightly/latest-comm-central/

If this issue still exists, one way to fix this would be to get rid of the headers that: a. Don't serve any real purpose b. Only seems to exist on Linux This would save up about exactly the space of a Manage Identities button, while not increasing the height of the window.

Seems like a good idea to me.

What about moving "Manage Identities" from a button to a branch of the tree?

Is this still happening? The Account settings window is resizable these days. Mike Yates, these is another bug for that.
