(some of the numbers changed in case they are security hole of some kind)
This is presumably something on the blog itself and I'm sure I could strip it out with Yahoo Pipes or something but I don't think TB should fire up FF to open the link without my express permission.

Nope, this is more likely an issue with Thunderbird.

We wouldn't stop a 3.0 or 3.1 release from going out the door based only on the knowledge that one person has seen this happen with a single RSS feed.

I can confirm this for multiple feeds. Some open a single tab in FF, others open multiple.If I can provide any info to help, let me know.

Yup, I've got a couple of feeds that now open windows, including this one:
