Will this build have included the packaging changes from 561600?

If not then this is a symptom of the component being missing, though we should handle that more gracefully.
Mossop: You and I had that discussion recently about that non-functioning "new addons manager" which didn't see any of my existing add-ons. It was on the first SeaMonkey 2.1a2pre nightly (the day before -20100510- it was 2.1a1pre, which worked).

Franz: The new addons manager is temporarily not working on SeaMonkey 2.1a2pre. SeaMonkey 2.1a1pre, which has a working addons manager, can be got (for Windows) from http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/nightly/2010-05-10-05-comm-central-trunk/

I suspect this is another dupe of bug 561600.
Yes, only nightlies *dated* 05-13-2010 (or later) should have the required stuff to make this all work.

Its not perfect yet (we don't load the menu-bar link into a tab yet, but you can manually type "about:addons" in the url-bar).

Reopening this since, although it shouldn't happen normally, we should still not crash in this case and it can affect applications who don't want to ship the add-ons manager.

Hi Tony
I will wait until the next automatically update on 2.1a2pre - If the dictionary doesn't work for some days doesn't me affect really. I hope you will have a solution of this problem in the next days. I saw also the newly add-on-manager without my add-ons, too.

That's your choice of course, and with a slow connection it isn't fun to wait hours for a download to finish while hoping that the connection won't be cut in the middle. Even if you do other stuff in the meantime.

Not only the new add-ons manager in the first 2.1a2pre nightly (dated 2010-05-11) didn't see my addons, they didn't work either. I shortly tested a more recent build (dated 2010-05-13), and it saw my extensions, and they worked too, but those which I had manually "disabled" were suddenly enabled. If you follow bug 561600 (and any other related bugs) you'll see that progress is made practically every day, so if you stay with Sm 2.1a2pre it is important, now even more than usually, to always use the latest nightly.

You can download the last 2.1a1pre (which had a working old-style download manager) from the link in comment #9, or the latest trunk nightly build (currently 2.1a2pre) from http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/nightly/latest-comm-central-trunk/ which is updated every day (in the morning European time), or even the "stable" Sm 2.0.4 from http://www.seamonkey-project.org/ . I tried to find the 2.1a1 "alpha release" but didn't succeed.
Hi
yesterday I downloaded seamonkey-2.1a2pre.en-US.win32.installer.exe dated to 14.05.2010. The add-on-manager worked well and I could install the igerman98 dictionary for email. But where could I found the German language-package to change the US to a German version.
In reply to comment #15

I'm not sure (I've only used en-US builds myself), but I think that you could try first http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/nightly/latest-comm-central-trunk-l10n/seamonkey-2.1a2pre.de.langpack.xpi (as a language-pack addon) and if that doesn't work, the full Windows build from that same directory.
Hi
after installing the last upgrade en-US (14th May) I could install the German dictionary add-on without an problem. Your answer was also very well. The add-on manager couldn't accept the german langpack.xpi. So I changed the installation to the German version on SeaMonkey from the 12th May. This version works also well with the German dictionary. Thank you all together for your help.

Franz
