In Windows Xp, this will keep consistency with the system. Although in Windows Vista and Windows 7 this will not keep consistency, this will help to save space for those who want to use the classic menu. Reproducible: Always

Should this option be included in the Mac and Linux version of Firefox 4? I think Linux Firefox should include this option but I am not very sure about Mac since Mac have a system menu, so I don't think this option is valid in Mac.

There's no reason to include it since the menu bar is always visible in the system taskbar. Same goes for Bug 574511.
Requesting to block beta 3+ along with bug 571785, bug 572160 and bug 574337. It will be good if all requested bugs can be landed in beta 3. Same goes for Bug 574511. Bug 574511 is about customizing the bookmark button, I believe it should be landed for all platforms.

We'll be placing the menu bar in the title bar in maximized mode. However in un-maximized mode, it is important that the window remains easily drag-able. This change is best suited for an extension.

Alex, why did you mark this bug as WONTFIX? you could have just rename the bug to say placing menu bar in the title bar in maximized mode. Please mark Duplicate if you have already created such a bug.

>you could have just rename the bug >to say placing menu bar in the title bar in maximized mode. Sorry about that, I thought that bug existed but checking the dependency tree of bug 556174 it doesn't seem to. Modifying the summary and confirming. Setting platform to XP (default is to have a menu bar), but this should be the behavior for maximized mode whenever the Firefox button as been turned off.

This would be better as an option. Not everybody needs to see the page title twice.

The option part of the bug is covered by bug 585315
Summary: Place Menu Bar to be in the Title Bar when the window is maximized → Place Menu Bar in the Title Bar when the window is maximized
Minusing for now; really depends on whether or not we can actually do what bug 572160 is asking. We can renominate if & when bug 572160 gets blocking status.

Incidentally, the following combination of extensions does a good job of this in my opinion: Beta version of Stylish for Firefox 4: http://forum.userstyles.org/comments.php?DiscussionID=23704&page=1#Item_1 Stylish style to hide Firefox button: http://userstyles.org/styles/41215 Personal Titlebar: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/222214/ This works regardless of whether the window is maximized, though does run into problems for very small horizontal sizes. Personally, I also added the title back in, as I really have a hard time doing without it. Just posting this here for those who want to try it out to see how it looks - originally got the information from rob64rock on the MozillaZine forums.
(In reply to comment #14) Thanks. I found a userstyle that turned FF into this: http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/3439/clipboard01mc.jpg http://userstyles.org/styles/39290 It seems like with tabs in the titlebar when maximized, there's a lag when switching tabs.
I think this is mostly covered for Windows in bug 813802.
