"Automatically mark mesage as read" setting is disabled and still messages are randomly marked as read when selected from the message list. This happens both ways: when selected with mouse or arrows.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Select message from the message list
2. (rinse and repeat)

In local Folders ? Imap folders ?

Update: Thunderbird to 3.0.6 and with safe-mode.

IMAP and local folders have the same issue. Sometimes it happens every few clicks and sometimes not.

Update: Thunderbird 3.1.1 with safe-mode

Argh, this seems to be more an UI related, the "issue" is the read flag colum that, by default, is right in the middle of "the most likely to hit with a mouse" area, and can be accidentally clicked too easily.

I cannot reproduce this after noticing the earlier -> Resolved.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Clicked message from list (IMAP)
2. Pressed Delete key
3. Pressed Arrow down key

Next message was selected and marked as read. More cursor up/down key pressed
and messages got marked as read. After awhile it stopped happening anymore.

Another try:

1. Locate message that is HTML based and has link
2. Click HTML message in the list
3. Click the link in the preview -> launches firefox
4. Immediately start clicking messages in the message list which might get
marked as read

I could reproduce that 5 times in a row, but then it did not happen.

I suspect yes, but will wait for the patch in a build.

I have not witnessed this problem after upgrading to Thunderbird 9.
