Firefox is using MozMill to automate update testing of their releases from an external perspective. Internal testing is generally covered by buildbot, but they still make sure (just as we do) that everything gets onto the release channel and ftp server correctly.
This bug will track the adjustment of the current Firefox harness to allow Thunderbird to do this as well.

This is an adapted script from bug 528064 that we'll be using to download builds to test updates on.

We now have enough in place that we can run update tests with only one bit of patching. I think therefore it is easy enough that Ludovic can use it for our next releases.
Here's the instructions on how to set up and run the tests:

I believe Ludovic is using this on Windows and Mac now, so I think that's good enough to mark as fixed.
