User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en; rv:1.9.0.19) Gecko/2010051911 Camino/2.0.3 (like Firefox/3.0.19) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2.7) Gecko/20100713 Thunderbird/3.1.1 I know this has been reported earlier but I thought this new build was fixing it. When I start to type an email message the first part of my messages is the font/size that I want, Helvetica/Arial of a medium-large size (I have no way to identify an exact size) but as I type it changes to a smaller size especially after I stop typing for a minute or 2. This is totally annoying and NEVER happened in Thunderbird 2. I really, really hate this. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Create a signature with Adobe Garamond font, 12 point in word or some such. 2.Have this signature attached automatically to your emails. 3.Set Arial/Helvetica Medium large (about 16 point I guess) as the default font for outgoing email. Try sending and/or replying to emails, type, stop. wait. type more carriage returns, type, wait etc. somewhere during all this the font will get smaller. and/or change to a different font altogether. Actual Results: Exactly as I said, the font gets smaller and or cahnges to a different font in the middle of sentence or the beginning of a new one. Expected Results: The font should NEVER change when typing unless purposefully done by the writer.

Where was it reported ?
Do the Steps to Reproduce involve ONLY typing text, and not involve repositioning the cursor ? If it does involve repositioning the cursor, is the problem possibly that described in Bug 273622 ?
Reporter do you still see this problem when using recent version of Thunderbird?

Yes I am still seeing this. I believe there is a problem with recognition of character encoding that may very well be related. Almost 1/2 of the email I receive ends up being recognized with the wrong encoding (unicode 8, Mac Roman) and results in display or erroneous characters. This may be related to that (or not) but I am still seeing this happen with very recent builds.
Joe, can you confirm bug?

Stuart, You never answered the question in comment 2 above. I have never seen a problem with straight typing. But have seen many times where I thought the cursor was re-placed after the last character typed, when in reality it is not really there.(Even though it appears to be there) Please take a look at bug 203810 and bug 250539 to see if your problem is the same. You also might be interested in an addon that seems to fix this for many users. Here are two addons to look at: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/stationery/ http://nic-nac-project.org/~kaosmos/realborders-en.html Thanks for filing the bug and following through.
I believe it is only typing text, but to be certain I am not totally sure. I often, type, stop, correct something and then keep going. When I stop and correct, I reposition the cursor sometimes. I'll look at the other links you provided.
While those other bugs are similar and I'm sure related as they all involve text formatting, they are not exactly the same thing. I have not noticed this as much lately by the way. I will now check the addons.
