In various forums (and I think also in bugzilla, but in this moment I can't find any dupe) most users post issue as "I can't edit smtp settings"...
I post here a proposal by WADA from bug 599730 comment #1:

What about a button "Manage SMTP" near the "Outgoing server (SMTP)" in account first pane, that just redirects to the existing "Outgoing server (SMTP)" pane?

Account settings dialog is often opened showing the currently selected account so moving SMTP to top is no guarantee it will be seen more often.

Which "create account" button is meant here?

The idea is to move smtp even above the default account.
