In various forums (and I think also in bugzilla, but in this moment I can't find any dupe) most users post issue as "I can't edit smtp settings"... I post here a proposal by WADA from bug 599730 comment #1: (In reply to comment #1) > From support people's perspective, there are some requests on SMTP setting to > reduce needless help requests or questions. > (1) Move "Outgoing Server(SMTP)" to top, in order that user can see it > frequently. > (2) Move "Outgoing Server(SMTP)" to outside of account list pane, because SMTP > setting is different kind entity from ordinal "Account in Tb". > Add "Manage SMTP" button under "Create Account" button. > (3) Your request, or similar requests to yours. > AFAIR, I did read all of such idea in other bugs, but I don't know bug for > specific request is opened or not. IIRC, bug for (2) exists. > > I think this bug is reasonable enhancement request. I don't know dup or not.
What about a button "Manage SMTP" near the "Outgoing server (SMTP)" in account first pane, that just redirects to the existing "Outgoing server (SMTP)" pane?

(In reply to :aceman from comment #1) > What about a button "Manage SMTP" near the "Outgoing server (SMTP)" in > account first pane, that just redirects to the existing "Outgoing server > (SMTP)" pane? Seems I said the same as bug 599730 comment 0 :) (In reply to [:Aureliano Buendía] from comment #0) > (In reply to comment #1) > > From support people's perspective, there are some requests on SMTP setting to > > reduce needless help requests or questions. > > (1) Move "Outgoing Server(SMTP)" to top, in order that user can see it > > frequently. Account settings dialog is often opened showing the currently selected account so moving SMTP to top is no guarantee it will be seen more often. > > (2) Move "Outgoing Server(SMTP)" to outside of account list pane, because SMTP > > setting is different kind entity from ordinal "Account in Tb". > > Add "Manage SMTP" button under "Create Account" button. Which "create account" button is meant here?
No longer blocks: 599730
Depends on: 599730

The idea is to move smtp even above the default account. > > > (2) Move "Outgoing Server(SMTP)" to outside of account list pane, because SMTP > > > setting is different kind entity from ordinal "Account in Tb". > > > Add "Manage SMTP" button under "Create Account" button. > > Which "create account" button is meant here? Next to "Add mail account", in "Account Actions"
