I assume compositor means composer?

In Source View version of composer, the text should have colors based on the tag
you are typing. For an example of this, use <a
href="http://www.globalscape.com/">CuteHTML by GlobalScape</a> - It is free. The
HTML source editting view should have colors like this. Also, in HTML source
editing form, you should still be able to use the HTML element buttons. It would
just insert the tags instead of the images.

If HTML edit layout has colors, then there should also be a plain text layout
that is just text like the current HTML source layout is. You could use this
plain text layout for making any text file.
Reassigning to editor.

Brian, compositor and composer (editor) are very different things. Please read
the component descriptions at

This will be possible when we can support multiple editors on the same document
and thus can use the full "Text Editor" capability that Composer has for the
source window. The source window will then be able to have its own CSS to control
the look of tags, etc.
We should have just one bug on the issue "improved HTML Source editing" needed.

isn't this a duplicate of bug 58730?
Hmmm, I can't tell. I don't really know what syntax highlighting is.

looks like a dupe to me - I already CC'd myself on bug 58730.

It seems like Composer, although one of the four main components of Mozilla,
unfortunately doesn't receive much priority.
The first parth of this RFE (Colour coding for tags = Syntax Highlighting) is a
DUPE of bug 58730.

However I can't see anything for the second part: "Also, in HTML source editing
form, you should still be able to use the HTML element buttons. It would just
insert the tags instead of the images."
