'Drafts' message saving while IMAP connectivity problems doesn't correctly report the message not being saved.
Composing a new message on an configured IMAP account.
When trying to save the message (CTRL-s) to the 'Drafts' folder while having IMAP connection issues:
2 small windows appear (on top of eachoher):
Window 1 title: Saving Messages -
Status: Copy failed.
Progress: .. (running)
Window 2 title: Confirm
There was an error copying the message to the Sent folder. Retry?
Cancel / OK
If pressed OK, there is no indication that Thunderbird is retrying to save the message in the Drafts folder (no progress indicator whatsoever)
Even worse, when closing the concept, no notice is given to the user that the message won't be saved at all.
The message will be lost!
If anyone starts working on this, please look at these two bugreports too that both describe a problem which is probably not many codelines away from this problem (these may even be related):
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=595252
The error copying a draft message should say "Draft folder", not "Sent folder".
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=594042
Thunderbird reports sending message when saving draft
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Compose new message on IMAP account while having connectivity issues
2. Enter some text
3. Save draft / CTRL-s (error appears)
4. Enter some more text
5. Close compose window
6. No warning that message will not be saved into drafts folder, message is lost
Actual Results:
Concept/draft is not saved/gets lost without warning
Expected Results:
1. Another notice should have warned the user that the message will not be saved.
2. While thunderbird is retrying to save the draft, a progress indicator should be visible to indicate this.
Severity=critical might be overrated, but it caused me to lose mail (...multiple times) so "..., or causes you to lose data." does really apply here.

Looks almost identical, but in my case the message isn't saved at all (neither in Sent or Drafts folder).
