User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 Firefox/3.6.13 Build Identifier: 3.1.7 I have Thunderbird 3.1.7 on WinXP. The issue is: Thunderbird spell-checker's highlighting of misspelled words disappears after some time. When composing a message, if I correct the typos at the end of typing of a somewhat long message, then from some of the starting lines typed which has misspelled words, the red underline of those words disappear. If you keep on correcting the underlined typed misspelled words as you type a line then its ok, but if you want to correct all words in a long message at the end of typing, then there is a chance of missing some misspelled words. Please note that: I do not want to use "Check spelling before sending" option as that presents a nagging screen every time you send a mail. I am talking about using "Enable spell check as you type" option only, and in that case the red underline highlight of typo disappear after some time. I think its a bug. I have also reported this issue on mozillazine forum, but no resolution as of now http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=2091689 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start composing a multi-line message 2. Type some words incorrect or mis-spelled in the first few beginning lines, the spell checker will underline these words. 3. Do not correct these and continue with next few lines (again with some typos in them) 4. After some time you will see that the underline of misspelled words in the initial lines have disappeared. Actual Results: The underlining of initial words is not preserved. Expected Results: The underlining of all typos should be preserved till you correct them. Additional Note: The same does not happen in Firefox. i.e if you are in a webmail like Gmail, composing a email or any another textarea in webpage, the underlining of all typos is preserved till you correct them.

I have Thunderbird 3.1.9 on Windows XP with the British English dictionary (1.19.1) installed and I have what I think is the same problem. If I have typed a message with several spelling mistakes (all initially highlighted) and start correcting them, then very often the highlighting is removed from remaining misspelt words before I correct them. I tried uninstalling the dictionary add-on, downloading the latest add-on, and re-installing. This made no difference. I also have Thunderbird running on Linux (Ubuntu 10.10) and I have never seen this problem there.
