I've been hitting this occasionally but I keep forgetting to file it. I can't nail down STR, unfortunately, but it happens fairly often.
When this happens, I can type in the location bar and I don't get an autocomplete popup at all. I don't remember if there's anything in the error console when this happens, I'll have to check next time I hit this. catlee mentioned on IRC that he's been seeing this as well.
I only see this on Linux, FWIW.

Yes, I've been hitting this pretty often as well. I *think* it's only after coming out of suspend.
I get no auto-complete of my history or bookmarks.

I'm seeing it on a desktop machine, so it's not suspend for me.

Both of you are on linux, right? If so, about 90% this is a duplicate, but not finding the bug at the moment...

Yes. Happy to have it duped, especially if someone knows what the problem is. :) I just didn't want to leave it unfiled since we were both experiencing it.

Found it! This looks an awful lot like bug 533211 - can you folks check and see if that's what you are seeing?

Doesn't seem like it...I can still type into the URL bar, I just get no awesomebar dropdown.

Actually, I don't think I found the right bug. The one I was thinking of I was sure moved to a different component...

Yes, there's a longstanding bug for this... which I also cannot find. Bug 507269 looks like this, sort of, but it's not the bug I'm thinking of.
Does switching to another app and then back fix the problem for you?
Regardless, this is not a regression, and not going to hold Firefox 4 back -> blocking-.

Sounds enough like a dupe of bug 507269 to me (which I also just duped that other bug to).

No, only thing that fixes it for me is to restart Firefox.
