RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 644733

Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10_6_6; en-US) AppleWebKit/534.13 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/9.0.597.102 Safari/534.13
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:2.0b12pre) Gecko/20110213 Thunderbird/3.3a3pre

Trying to open any window (like compose or address book) when the main window is in the secondary monitor (in my case, first monitor is an external one, secondary monitor is my MacBook Pro laptop screen) doesn't cause any effect. However, the Window menu list all the windows you tried to open, but clicking on them doesn't do anything. Also, Exposé doesn't show them at all.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Thunderbird
2. Move it to the secondary monitor
3. Try to open any window
Actual Results:
No window(s) visibly open, but Window menu list it

Expected Results:
Open the new window(s)

This is not a "only first time opened" behavior. If you move back the main window to the primary screen and try to open a new window, all works as expected.
Works for me on Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; rv:2.0b12pre) Gecko/20110213 Thunderbird/3.3a3pre

Could be a 10.6 only issue.
Gary do you have a secondary screen ?
I had tested on 3.1.7 a few days back and it worked, but let me try latest comm-central...

Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101207 Lightning/1.0b2 Thunderbird/3.1.7
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:2.0b12pre) Gecko/20110221 Thunderbird/3.3a3pre

WFM too, I am unable to reproduce. I did as you tried - switched my MacBook Pro screen as the secondary monitor and the external one as the primary one, but the issue did not crop up.

The compose and address book windows always appeared in the screen that is listed as the primary monitor.

Reporter, can you please retest? I'm on 10.6 as well..
Yeah, I retest every day, and update almost everyday too. Right now Im using:

Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:2.0b12pre) Gecko/20110216 Thunderbird/3.3a3pre

How about with a new profile?

http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/Profiles

(Be sure to first backup your original profile..)
With a new profile, same thing, but...

When using Expose to show the windows, in my laptop screen I see the main window, BUT in the another monitor, I see "Address Book" label, but without window, as if window has 0x0 size.

This doesn't happen with my old profile (no "Address Book" tag on main screen when using Expose)
Also, when I cancelled creating the new account, and later tried to press Write button with main window on the laptop screen, the Wizard appeared in the middle of my two screens, but with top of the window too high to see the title bar (or move it). When trying to close it (with ESC key, and later pressing "Exit" button) wizard reopened. Trying the same thing over and over again did nothing. In the console, this appeared:

This might be bug 538931.
Ok, new test and new results:

1. I started Thunderbird. By default, it opens in my laptop screen, maximized.
2. I press Write a few times. Nothing shows up, but I see a few "Write (no subject)" entries in the "Window" menu.
3. I move main window to main screen. When I press Write, a new window shows up (main screen or laptop screen, depending on the last opened window)
4. But if I move the main window again to the laptop screen and press Write, a new window shows up in the same position as the others!

Now, don't matter what, every time I press Write the new window will be opened (but the "not working" ones don't show up, even on Expose)

Same thing doesn't work with Address Book (because there is only one instance of it, and I cannot close it if I cannot reach it)
duplicate of bug 632749?
Ángel, should be fixed with bug 644733, no?
(currently targeted at version 9, which stinks)
Indeed. I've just downloaded today's nightly and this is working fine.

And yes, targeting this more-than-1-year-old bug (this was happening long long before I finally got the time to post the bug, so I'm sure it's more than a year long) to version 9 stinks. A lot
