Using the 2000122306 Linux build with the PSM from iplanet, I was unable to connect to the fortify.net SSL site in the Security Smoketest. "Error loading URL https://www.fortify.net/sslcheck.html: 8007000e" was dumped to the console, and the page never loads. It looks like PSM isn't there at all, even though there were no irregularities during the PSM installation. A similar problem is encountered on connecting to other secure sites. This problem did not show up with a 20001221 build.
psmglue appears to be missing from this build.
psmglue is no longer built unless PSM is built (since it's now possible for PSM to be part of the build rather than downloaded separately) after cls's changes a few days ago. PSM isn't being built by default (I think for legal reasons, although I'm not sure). I was under the impression that the plan was to change the build automation so that PSM would be built in the nightly builds. If that's the case, it might be that this bug should go to leaf.

still catching up the unix build automation to auto-magically build psm/nss.

FWIW, the following necessary libraries (part of PSM) seem to be in the nightly builds (and have been for a while): libcmt.so libprotocol.so while the following are still missing (the first of them used to be part of the builds but hasn't been since the makefile changes, the second is part of NSS): components/libpsmglue.so libnssckbi.so When I do a build with PSM I also get the following libraries built (within mozilla/security/nss/lib/fortcrypt/), but not installed anywhere in dist/bin/, and they don't seem to be needed for connecting to secure sites: libfort.so libswft.so
reducing to critical, we know what the problem is, just haven't had a chance to implement it yet. adding self to cc list.

Is there a workaround for this?
Adding my e-mail to CC list. Is there an ETA for the fix to this?
there's no workaround I know of short of building your own. ETA is as soon as the build systems stop misbehaving so I don't have to babysit them all day long so I can actually work on this (or leaf gets his network connection straightened out).

Building my own (if it can be done as part of a normal mozilla build) is an OK option -- I usually make my own builds anyway. How do I get psm to build in that case? Before doing my checkout/build I set BUILD_MODULES=psm, and in my .mozconfig I have ac_add_options --enable-psm and ac_add_options --with-extensions=xmlterm,irc,psm-glue,wallet,cookie but for some reason the resulting build doesn't have mailnews and gives the aforementioned "Error loading URL https://www.fortify.net/sslcheck.html: 8007000e" message.

This is not fixed at least in the xpi installer nightlies (I am currently using Linux 2001010821). So someone should reopen it.
WFM in Linux Mozilla Nightlies: 2001010808
Reopening. The nightly Linux mozilla builds on www.mozilla.org do not presently have PSM built in due to build problems. However, this 1/8/01 build does, and PSM works. www.concentric.net/~unruh/mozilla-i686-pc-linux-gnu.tar.gz

I'm fairly sure this bug should stay resolved. The no psm for mozilla installer builds is an installer issue and has a separate bug filed against it - 64649. This bug was for the fact that PSM was not being built. It's being built and is in the tarball last I checked, it just isn't in the installer.
Marking fixed. Mozilla does connect to SSL sites with the right build. However, the nightlies available on www.mozilla.org do not contain PSM. You can get a good build here - www.concentric.net/~unruh/mozilla-i686-pc-linux-gnu.tar.gz
