This is a tracking bug for several bugs surrounding the attachments panels of both the message reader UI and message composition windows. Note that SeaMonkey might also benefit from these fixes.

In order of priorities, I'd say deal with bug 373996 and bug 473901 first, and deal with bug 452634 next, would be a nice-to-have, since the option is accessible through the menu system.

Then take a look at bug 303712 which I think is already much improved since it was filed.

Before all that, the attachment area actually needs to accept keyboard events, which I plan to work on in bug 630759. Once that's done, pretty much all the other keyboard issues are easy to fix.
