In addition to Ctrl-Shift-E and the Tab Groups button, it'd be nice if the escape key functioned exactly like those other two options in the tab grouping view.
Actually this should already be working and it is for me. I just tried and it unfortunately seems _not_ working until you clicked inside panorama (e.g. the background). So maybe we should rename the bug?
Something like this?
Summary: Let 'esc' key exit from Panorama mode → Make sure Tab Group view takes the focus away from the Tab Group button so that 'esc' key can leave Tab Group view.
And now 'esc' works every time with no other interaction from me... so that "make sure" part is the important part, I guess.
This should be fixed when the patch for bug 587276 lands
