Steps to reproduce:
1. Open http://bugzilla.mozilla.org in landscape mode.
2. Tap in a form field near the bottom of the page.
Expected results: The form-helper arrows are visible, and the form field is scrolled into view after the keyboard appears.
Actual results (on T-Mobile G2 with either Swype or Android keyboard): The landscape keyboard covers up the form field and the form helper arrows. This is also true in Fennec chrome text fields, e.g. the add-on search field.
On Galaxy Tab, I get the expected results.

From when is this regression? Tracking for now, but it's not clear what the resolution should be.

This is a regression from bug 614355. If there's not a simple fix, we can pref off that change. (The prefs introduced in bug 614355 allow us to disable the change for all devices, or just for small-screen devices.)
Mark Finkle reports that the Nexus One shows the expected behavior, so this bug might be limited to the G2, or some unknown subset of devices.
Both the G2 and Galaxy Tab are running Android 2.2.
Summary: Regression: Landscape keyboard obscures Formhelper and form fields on small-screen devices → Regression: Landscape keyboard obscures form fields and UI on HTC G2

the form helper part of this isn't really a regression since the fullscreen keyboard obscured all of the UI prior to bug 614355 landing.
I get the same experience of the form helper and the fields being covered by the Virtual keyboard, esp on the fields that are located mid page (rather than the ones on the top of the page) http://people.mozilla.com/~nhirata/html_tp/formsninputv2.html

This patch tweaks the preferences, causing us to revert to the previous behavior (full-screen keyboard) on phone-sized devices. It keeps the new behavior (non-full-screen keyboard) on the Samsung Galaxy Tab and larger devices.
This isn't ideal, but it's the simplest change that prevents this regression on the G2, and I think it's probably the right fix for Aurora. We can try for a better fix in Firefox 6 or later.

Revert to full-screen KB on phones
IMO the non-full screen keyboard is a much better experience on my atrix. Let's try to figure out what's wrong with the G2 before changing the behavior

This might have something to do with it:

Never mind, we already set "adjustResize" in our AndroidManifest.xml.

I also see this on my DroidX. Reading around a bit, I think it is just a bug in Android. Maybe we can only NOT show the fullscreen keyboard for the urlbar?

perhaps we need to whitelist?
Also occurs in various other places such as Find in Page, Edit BookMark, Search Catalog (in Plugins Preference Control Panel), etc.
Also note : Bug 649943 - VKB overlays urlbar menu, http auth and javascript prompts, panning doesn't work (virtual keyboard)
