If I have a dual boot system (e.g. OS X and Ubuntu) it would be a nice advantage for the two thunderbirds to share the same profile and data. As it happens now, they cause trouble if both pointed at the same profile.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install thunderbird on OS X
2.Install thunderbird on Ubuntu
3.Symlink thunderbird directories from one OS to the other

Actual Results:
various error messages, especially with plugins.

Expected Results:
That thunderbird run smoothly when pointed at a new profile.
