On Win98, the menu items changes from "Work offline" to "Work online" when you select it. I think "Work offline" should get a check mark next to it instead of changing its name, because that would make it easier to see whether you're online by glancing at the menu. (Using a check mark would also make it more consistent with other Win98 apps, but I don't know what other Mac apps do.)

Note: using 2001090705 OS X commercial trunk build, that the same problem is prevalent and will need to be fixed both in OS 9 and 10 builds.

So this is just a case of menu item text being incorrect? The command still works? And 99% of people will probably just click on the button, which does correctly indicate online state? And this only really matters for Enterprise Mac users (which is an oxymoron if I ever heard one)? Finally, isn't UI freeze past? nsbranch-. Please let me know if this is really going to make a substantial difference AND is likely to be approved by PDT.

Suggest WONTFIX, bug 117036 should be implemented (for all platforms) instead. (It's for a checkmark, rather then changing the text).

Anyone know who fixed this? The menu item for the browser (File|Work Offline/Online) now works as expected. Using 2002031108 commercial trunk on 9.2.2 still need to check os x builds.
probably me - we were probably failing to go offline.

Using commercial trunk 2002032208 on Mac 9.2.2 & 10.1.3 Verified the File menu in browser: File|Work Online or Work Offline now works as expected. Tried going on/offline via file menu in browser, offline icon in browser, or offline in messenger. Each time I went online/offline the file menu in the browser changed as expected. marking as verified.
