From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux 2.2.16-22 i686; en-US; 0.7) Gecko/20010105
BuildID: 2001010517

All Chinese pages are not printed correctly. This happens at both Chinese web
page and Chinese mail, although the navigator/mail displayed Chinese correctly,
they only printed little squares for all Chinese characters. If user chose
"Print to File" and use "ghostview" to check the postscript file, it has same
problem.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to any Chinese page (such as http://gbchinese.yahoo.com)
2. Print the page
3. Check the printout.

Actual Results: The problem is re-produced.

Expected Results: Mozilla should print Chinese characters as it display on screen.

This problem also happened on all older version of Mozilla/Netscape (for Linux)

Since there are no dups of this I am guessing it is a problem with your printer.
Which printer are you using? Are you using XPrint? Do you have trouble printing
in other programs too?
This bugs needs some loving, pretty serious if it is confirmed.

Hi, I am the original reporter.

My printer is HP LaserJet, I am using 'lpr', not 'XPrint'.

I don't have problem to print Chinese ps (PostScript) files.
Has anyone been able to reproduce this?
Bruno Li, Are you still seeing this behavior?
I went to this page to test this bug and the page crashed my browser (twice).

The page opens cn.yahoo.com, then mozilla crashes.
I see this on Linux Build 2001053008. (Using print command gv - to view it on
screen) I'll attach a png created from the postscript output.
Might be related to lack of xprint. See bug 6312.

Xprint module (2001-06-10-08-trunk+patch from bug 57820) prints the example URL
correct on Solaris 7 (see bug 49947 - currently not build by default... ;-((

This is most likely due to systems not having a postscript version of a
particular font...
Oh, and this happens for Cyrillic as well.
Cyrillic and japanese print fine with Xprint module, chinese should work without
problems, too (I did not test that yet) ...

Rod, does the patch in bug 100328 fix this?
Target Milestone: mozilla0.9.9 → Future
If print CJK document to a western printer, all CJK character will be empty box.
This is because mozilla doesn't download font info to printer.

see also bug 144663, which will support CJK font soon
