Taking this across from bug 328050...

Two options are available:
1) Start from scratch
2) I recover Wolof for Firefox 3.6 and migrate it to the latest versions (recommended)

We can also host you on pootle.locamotion.org, this is where the previous Wolof translations where taking place and you can then be included with the other 7 African languages.

ok we take the work already done and we migrate in on a last version. So just let me some day, i see  contact the people who are volunteer for localize Firefox et the mozilla products. Le mailing list just came to be created et everybody is not there yet

Hi Mr Camara,

The Wolof language pack for Mozilla Firefox 4.0.* (unofficial) is available since last April.
You may download it from this web page :

It has been migrated from the 3.6 wolof Language pack (the same that Dwayne is talking about) that was localized by Ousmane Faty Ndongo and defunct Cheikh Ahmed Tidiane Guèye, from NGO ANAFA, who are both experienced Wolof translators.
Please note that the new strings in 4.0 that were not in the 3.6 version have not yet been translated.

Ousmane Faty Ndongo and his team at Dakar-based NGO ANAFA have been working on Open Source Software localization for several years, and you will find on the Alf@net website (http://www.alfanet.anafa.org/) several other software and tools in Wolof, like keyboard adaptors.
Take note that there is also an almost fully localized Wolof and Mandinka version of Abiword available since the end of last year, and these two localizations are currently undergoing review with professionnal linguists at the CLAD (Centre de linguistique appliquée de Dakar).

It would be a waste of time to start localizing from scratch.
The target now is to have a full Mozilla Firefox 4.0 build in Wolof, and putting our efforts together I believe we can make it happen this year.

Hi Mr Rochefort 

I'm already in contact with Mr Ndongo, he invited me to a meeting, but with my work in real life I do not have time right now. I put him in CC and I invite him to participate in solving this bug. Our goal is to have a firefox completely in Wolof with version 7, which is scheduled for December 2011 i think.

There is a demo Wolof Language Pack now available for Mozilla Aurora 7.0.

This is a demo language pack, it is about 80% complete, and we are currently reviewing the sanity and the quality of the translations, and completing the missing strings.
