Details
After losing my sync setup on my desktop profile in bug 670470, I managed to find another desktop profile that was using sync, and added the original desktop profile as a new device. This somehow worked, but the profile was now using a different name than the one it was using before, so about:sync-tabs in the other desktop profile i "added a new device" with was displaying my tabs for that original profile twice: once under the old name (with outdated data), and once under the new name.
There doesn't seem to be a way to remove the cruft from the sync servers.

FWIW, all relevant records have a TTL value, so this will go away in a couple of weeks. There's a bug as well on making this an actual command, don't have it handy right now...
