User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; rv:5.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/5.0 Build ID: 20110615151330 Steps to reproduce: Deleting an attachment from an opened mail. If there're multiple attachments and I try to delete all of them one by one (because it only allows to delete one at a time), deletion of each file results in moving to open the next file on the list although I want to stay in the current window to continue deleting the other attachments. Actual results: It results in opening the next mail on the list, although I want to stay in the current window Expected results: If there're multiple attachments and I try to delete all of them one by one (because it only allows to delete one at a time), deletion of each file results in moving to open the next file on the list although I want to stay in the current window to continue deleting the other attachments. It's not efficient to keep reopening the current mail to delete each attachment.

tb24,winxp,pop3 wfm per comment 0: possible to select several or all attachments for deletion, does NOT move focus to next msg (on pop3 account). but points to a couple of other shortcomings: - deleting single attachments closes the attachments pane each time, which is very annyoing and wrong as focus should just stay in attachment pane. - missing "Select all" from attachment pane context menu for mouse users next steps: - test comment 0 on imap account - check for/file followup bugs - close this

Summary: Delete attachement results in moving to open the next mail. → Delete attachment results in moving to open the next mail.

What I see is dependent on sort selection in the message pane. My normal order is "order received" In that case, the next message is opened with just a single deletion. If I sort on date, the message stays open.(imap and pop) This makes sense, since when you delete an attachment, the whole message must be re-written to the mbox That 'order received' number changes on the re-write. I don't think there is anything we could do about that. But the workaround would seem to be "Don't sort on 'order received'"

Do you still see this issue?

Yes I confirm this issue is still accurate after 8 years. When deleting a file attached to a mail from the bottom of the mail, the mail is closed and next mail automatically opened. The expected behavior should be: refresh attachment list and still display in the current mail to user.

Yes, I confirm the bug in Mozilla Thunderbird 52.4.0 (32-bit) in Windows 10. Detaching single attachments of a message -> Thunderbird switches to the next email.

I can't reproduce this with 94.0b4 on Mac.
Can anyone else still reproduce?

Hi,
I have checked right now under Windows 10 running Thunderbird 91.3.0 (32 bits) and this bug seems to have vanished 😋 => I confirm it can be closed 10 years after opening 🍾.
