User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.7; rv:6.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/6.0 Build ID: 20110804030150 Steps to reproduce: We will shortly have a 1 minute animation complete, explaining the benefits of using Add-ons with Firefox. This video is of particular use to first time / new users of Firefox, who have yet to install an add-on. We would like this video to be inserted within the promo banner spots of both AMO and the Add-on manager. - The final video will be available in webm format with dimensions of 854x274 - please advise if this is suitable. - Please also advise if we can target this video to be the default first banner seen by users without an add-on installed. - The video includes an English voiceover, although we will have subtitles ready for non-EN markets as well.

Hi Wil Here is the final animation: http://clients.pokelondon.com/Firefox/Firefox_final.zip ID: Firefox Pass: F1R3.f0x11 (Correct version of two downloaded files is: FF 576 h264 v2.mov). Design bug has been created (684042) for a tweak to the banner in which this animation will sit; should be ready within the next couple of days. While the banner is being prepped, can I make sure we're ready for coding of this banner (i.e. video working, lightbox etc)? Also - no sign on localised subs for the moment, so can we only push in EN markets at the beginning?

It looks like that zip file is a .mov file. Please have them convert it to a .webm and reupload it.

Hi Wil Here are the assets for the banner itself: http://www.intothefuzz.com/rhonda/animation_tweak Here is the webm video: http://web.me.com/danhorner/Site/Blank_files/FF%20576%20h264%20v6.webm.zip We still don't have universal subtitles, so for the moment, this is EN only - will update as soon as we do. Thanks Dan

Dan, are there mocks of how we'll link to add-ons similar to the ones in video? or are those the ones in the Firefox 4 collection?

No, this is a mock for the design of the banner which will house the video itself. No add-ons are listed here.

*not a mock in actual fact - these are the final design assets. Fyi - we used the Fx 4 collection banner as a basis for the design.

Ok, when will we have the rest of the design where we let users install add-ons like those mentioned in the video? I've mentioned this is needed several times, since before the video was made. I don't want users to watch an awesome video about a translator add-on and then not be able to download a translator add-on.

So we discussed this and agreed a plan to use Universal subtitles to point to a collection of add-ons (the universal subs will come after)?

(In reply to Dan Horner from comment #10) > So we discussed this and agreed a plan to use Universal subtitles to point > to a collection of add-ons (the universal subs will come after)? I don't remember that, and I wouldn't have been okay with using subtitles for non-subtitle purposes. I suggested using Popcorn.js to highlight different add-ons as the video is talking about them. In the interest of getting this done, please give me the list of add-ons with functionality from the video that we should pitch and I'll figure out how they can be displayed.

let's not feature personas, that is built into firefox now.

Hi Chris - it would still be good to send users off to choose a Persona when they find out about them for the first time.

Sounds like we need this video in ogv and mp4 to be consistent with what we've done in the past. Dan or Rainer: can you give us conversions?

https://github.com/mozilla/zamboni/commit/23a0dd979 It's not 100% done; I do eventually want to add a few extra features. I also want to make the button for it more prominent. And it has to also eventually go on AMO (and not just the disco pane). However for now, the important things seem to be working. Krupa: - Personas aren't showing up, since they are on prod but not addons-dev. So, all add-ons on the right side won't be matched up to the video (since the three personas aren't there, so they'll be off by 3). Cvan: - I'm stuck in airports (I was supposed to be home by now, but I'm in Newark), so if I'm not around can you fix any bugs Krupa finds (assuming they're easy enough)? Can you also do a quick r of my code? Thanks!
