Details

This was filed in Lightning, but is also in Thunderbird:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=678649
In OS X Lion, the sides of the frame are now movable, so there is no way to reopen a pane that was closed by dragging the sizer to the frame edge. When the cursor gets to the edge, it is taken over by the OS and resizes the frame instead of reopening the pane.
However you decide to fix it, I think we should do the same and it would be good to have this for Tb7. There is really no way to get it back, aside maybe from deleting localstore.rdf
If you do so, also consider fixing for the sidebar container on the right side where we overlay our today pane. That would fix the Lightning bug too.
This is being handled in bug 609245, so Lightning folks should probably take a look at what we do there.
