Steps to reproduce:

More than a bug, this is an issue

Hiding the "http://" prefix is very uncomfortable for develope in a localhost. You have to write complete "http://" always because if not, firefox try a search with google... and you lose some pretty time... think that a web developer do this a lot of times!!!

Hiding that is not user friendly, this is useless... this is the most useless thing i've seen in a browser.

I don't want "another" Chrome, I WANT FIREFOX!


Actual results:

For example, you have "localhost/helloworld.php", and you want to change to "localhost/helloworld2.php" writting the direcction, only adding the "2" (not link), you must go to the begining and rewrite again the "http://"... or firefox will launch a google search... as I said this is very unconfortable... unwanted search... go back, rewrite, then ok...


Expected results:

Give us the chance of show/hide "http://" as you like or show it when you click on the location bar.

This is bug 689709, basically.

By the way, you can disable this in about:config. The pref name is browser.urlbar.trimURLs.
