We are going to enable smooth scrolling by default on mozilla-central and see how if there are any issues with mouse/touchpad drivers. If any issues are found with mouse/touchpad drivers, please mark those bugs as blocking this bug. We hope to land smooth scrolling enabled by default (bug 198964) soon, but with the intention of backing it out on Aurora so that it can get some more time to bake on Nightly.

Will this change how scrolling with a touchpad or Magic Mouse behaves on OS X, in any way? I like the way it provides both precision and smoothness already.

Smooth scrolling is enabled by default in Firefox 13, this bug being the implementation bug for the corresponding feature (https://wiki.mozilla.org/Smooth_scrolling). Is there any reason why this bug was not set to RESOLVED yet? Thanks!

Is there any reason why this > bug was not set to RESOLVED yet? > Thanks! There are still some issues related to scrolling, as can be seen with the remaining open bugs. The remaining bugs aren't high enough severity to hold back the other improvements from reaching our users, thus the enabling of the preference for Firefox 13.
