User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_7_2) AppleWebKit/535.7 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/16.0.912.63 Safari/535.7 Steps to reproduce: I have a large number of Local Folders (usually one per sender) to which I move most messages after reading them. Often a backlog builds up in the Inbox. I use "Filter these messages" with the settings Sender and Recipients to select ones to transfer to a particular folder. Since moving to 10beta, this sometimes fails to work. So if there are 5 messages from Nakatani, entering that in the "Filter these message..." field results in nothing being displayed. Actual results: Nothing was displayed in the message list for the Inbox (immediately under the filter field). Expected results: The display should have shown the 5 messages from Nakatani. [Can't see where to enter this: running under OS X v10.7.2]
Where "From/Recipints field value of the 'Nakatani' at thread pane/message pane for the mail" come from? From message header of the mail such as From:, To:, CC:, Sender:? Or from "display name" in address book? If yellow star mark exists at mail address in message header pane, click the yellow star mark, remember shown address book name, and click "Edit Details" button, check display name value, and check your setting of next option(default=Checked). [?] Always prefer display name over message header Check setting of option in Tools/Options/Advanced/Reading&Display, Display, [?] Show only display name for people in my addres book
FYI. If the mail address is registered in address book and has "display name", and if above two options are Checked(usually, both are checked by default), you can see phenomenon of Bug 672966 by changing "display name" of the mail address in address book. Quick Search(search box in Quick Filter Bar) searches message header only(never searches address book, because "search of address book" doesn't exist in spec of Quick Search). So, I believe Quick Search is impossible to find "display name" in address book.
no response, so assuming duplilcate of bug 460737
