Steps to reproduce:

Verified that all configuration parameters were correct.


Actual results:

Thunderbird times attempting to connect to the newsgroup server, news.speakeasy.net, or when attempting to send outgoing mail via SMTP server.

Following is seen.

When did your problem start to occur? Afer update of Tb? Or first use of Tb 3.1.x?

Bug 535649 is relevant.
> Bug 535649 : Implement UI around CVE-2009-3555 and RFC 5746 (SSL renegotiation)
If exception was caused by "server does not support RFC 5746", temporary workaround may be prefs setting written in bug 535649 comment #13, with your own security risk.
