Steven, assigning to you, as Sean prepares any assets for /firefox on Bedrock. I think these will include: -Header -Footer -Background
Assignee: nobody → steven
Sean, punting to you for assets. Can you provide the new background any other Firefox styles that are changing for the relaunch. I know Lee's been using them, and we need to move this puppy into coding asap. Thanks!

A bit confused by this. We haven't redesigned /firefox yet. What is needed here before we do the redesign?
Hey Sean, thanks for the ping. This is the implementation bug for taking the current /firefox templates and turning them into Bedrock templates, so we can migrate content over to Bedrock. If a new template is designed (different header/background/footer) in the next week (deadline March 2), we could code that instead (which would be grand!) Lee has been using a new background for a "devices landing page" project.
Quick update: Sean, Chrissie & I are meeting about this on Tuesday. Should have a better plan after that.
Deadline: templates locked into Bedrock by March 15 *soft design refresh of /firefox (header/footer/background/styles) Steven, can you update the team here every few days as you iterate on implementing these styles. Here is the final inventory of the /firefox site that will be moving to Bedrock (in blue): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AlGDfFgIIbD9dDJOYjRydFJENXk5ZUgxQ2Z6Uk9OT1E#gid=0
After a helpful chat with cbrodigan, smartell, and jslater today, Sean and I discussed further and he will create a Photoshop version of the updated header for the Firefox pages and post here when ready.

The template for Firefox pages is now setup in Bedrock. I've got two pages: http://www-dev.allizom.org/b/en-US/firefox/performance http://www-dev.allizom.org/b/en-US/firefox/security Both pages still have open issues remaining. For example, we don't have platform-specific images on the Security page yet, and we don't have the Runfield game working on the Performance page yet. The links in the header are not all setup for bedrock yet, but I will updated them as pages get built out.
Steven/Sean, the new footer doesn't include the email sign-up, and I think that's a pretty big acquisition area for user engagement. Are you able to include it in the footer or elsewhere on all of the pages? (ps: love the simplicity of the new footer)
Building the newsletter sign-up into the footer would be a significant visual change. Sean, can you address that?
Yes, I love the cleanliness of the new footer, but Chrissie is absolutely right. Ideally we would have the Twitter and Facebook links down there too. Perhaps we could replicate the content of that "get in touch" secondary footer with an updated design that fits the new style better? Sean, thoughts?
Once the universal social assets are developed we'll implement them in the upper right corner of each page on mozilla.org and /firefox as well as the footer: https://bug725759.bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=600027 https://bug725759.bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=600488 implementation coming in Q1 via Bug 701759 That leaves us with email :-) Winston would never forgive us.
Upper right corner? I haven't seen how that would look in a mockup...would like to discuss first. It still seems like we could take Ty's awesome work on the social assets and put them next to a nice email signup field... What's the final due date on this?
John, Sorry, I should have included these screen captures: Social buttons in closed state in upper right corner & lower footer: http://cl.ly/0v1M0q3u263o2a1Z3G07/o Social buttons in opened state (post-click) in upper right corner & lower footer: http://cl.ly/0L2c1w3e3q2U3C1z0X15/o Ty & Sean collaborated on these. I'm sure we will iterate in the future post-launch. The social buttons shouldn't be a blocker though, because they are still with webdev, hoping to be released by end of March bug 723761 and tracked by by bug 701759 This still leaves the item of including email signup in the footer, maintaining the integrity of the way email sign-up works on the current /firefox site. Sean, can you provide this to Steven before end of week?
mcbmoz: Is code for the sharing widget(s) going to be provided too? I got the impression that there are some fancy interaction requirements to ensure privacy is respected.
@sgarrity Yep! privacy & security team-approved code will be provided.
Thanks Chrissie, that helps. Would it be possible to push this due date into early next week?
@jslater I'm not sure what you mean by due date?
(In reply to mcbmoz from comment #17) > @jslater I'm not sure what you mean by due date? Was responding to your 'end of week' reference in comment #13. Sean is completely booked with many other projects this week, as are Lee & Ty. But if we could hand this off next week instead it would free up someone like Ty to work on it (Sean is on PTO).
Design bug opened for footer 2.0 - Bug 733838 Steven, we'll revisit later next week with a new PSD.
Target Milestone: 1.9 → 1.10
We do have the three color variations of sandstone (neutral grey default, sand-colored for mozilla, blue for Firefox) up on the /sandstone demo page, including a PSD download: http://www-dev.allizom.org/b/en-US/sandstone/
Hi all. Regarding the email portion of this, we have an interesting situation brewing: - Sean has designed a very nice, very clean universal email footer (scroll down to the bottom of http://cl.ly/1i1k1S383Q102A0t021S/o) that could be used on mozilla.org and mozilla.org/firefox - however, this raises the question of what email people would be signing up for...the Firefox newsletter or the Mozilla one. - I've discussed this with Winston & Ben, and their ideal implementation would be to have checkboxes for both options in the pulldown that would accompany the signup. How feasible is this? - also, we'll need to tweak this layout a bit to include some visual cue for said pulldown. Do we need to spin off a separate bug for the email details? This is definitely an important thing to get right, but I worry about the technical complexities that may lie within. (copying Winston, Ben & Ross)
