With load-on-demand livemarks this will be more visible. Parsing planet mozilla feed in the livemarks service hangs UI on my i7 for a couple seconds.

this has minor priority now that livemarks load on demand, though if it would be cheaper we may evaluate to re-enable background updates.

(to clarify, comment 0 was in a debug build, an opt build is quite faster, though it's pretty clear we pay some mainthread cost here)

sure, even p3. The cache was a major hog than this, fwiw.
