Thinking ahead to when Beta goes live, we're going to see many users that want to take a sneak peak at Native, but then want to return to their stable XUL. With migration XUL -> Native not optional, the only way to return to XUL is to clear data and uninstall all, then start over (reconnect to Sync account, if they are using it) What this bug proposes is making migration optional 'til such a time that the user decides they want to permanently switch to Native.
Considering we may have bug 725900 as path to not migrate, I think that having an option would be great to have for the end user.
over to madhava for consideration. I'd vote to close as wontfix. not that I don't love you tracy, but native is the future.

Doug, I totally agree on the future of Fennec. I'm just anticipating the pain in the transition period between Beta and Final going live. Optional migration could alleviate some of that pain. If UX and SUMO are ready for the hit, and the value from and time spent to implement optional migration doesn't outweigh that pain, by all means wontfix.
This could be an alternative to: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=710331#c21 i.e. asking the question does give us an opportunity to explain better what we're actually doing.

Madhava - do we want to go this route or the "Setting up" on start route?
