I copied a folder with some messages from one account to another (per drag and drop, both accounts are IMAP). one message was marked red.
The red keyword (i think it is "important") was not set in the copy.
When dragging the message itself into the other account, the keyword is copied.

Johannes does this happens all the time for that account ?

no.
the procedure
1. create new folder
2. copy a message into it
3. mark the message red
4. copy the folder to another account
reproduces the bug reliably. marking the (unmarked) message inside the copied folder and copying the folder back again seems to work correctly.

here you go. it is not the log of the complete session because i don't know whether it contains sensitive information.
i prepared a testdirectory with one mail inside. the log contains the following actions:
1. mark the mail red
2. drag&drop the folder to my other account
3. open the copy of the folder.
i hope that helps.

you've cut out the part of the log that tells us whether hpi.uni-potsdam.de supports user-defined keywords.

the bug also happens when i copy the folder to another gmx.de account.
FWIW, when i delete the copy in the second gmx.de account with the falsely unmarked message inside, and copy it again, the copied message is correctly marked, but this does not work when copying to hpi.uni-potsdam.de.

this time with two gmx.de-accounts
here i did not mark the message red, but copied an already marked message into testdirectory5. then i copied the directory, and then opened the copy.

does copying individual (or groups) of messages, not folders, work?

yes. i tried with all possible combinations of a local folder, gmx, and uni-potsdam.de an both directions and the copy is always correctly marked.

ok, thx, then the issue must be in the folder copy code.

Sorry, it was wrong dependency setting. Removing it.

At least moving or coping a single msg from one IMAP folder to another IMAP folder doesn't loose tags (tested with 2 tags: Important, Works) and also 'Starred' msg didn't change.

Does this problem also occur when using maildir
instead mbox
?
