While testing bug 730701 I ran into this when using high-contrast themes. Note that both D2D and ClearType are switched off on this machine. In all high-contrast themes but High Contrast White the icons are not visible. Judging from bug 588007 attachment 546791 [details], this seems to have initially worked at the time the patch was developed but has regressed since, or the specific settings make the icons disappear. This also applies to the 10.0.2 release.
- Windows Classic (visible) - High Contrast Theme Black - High Contrast Theme #1 - High Contrast Theme #2 - High Contrast Theme White (visible)
Did you restart Thunderbird in between trying these out?
Good point, I didn't... :-\ Restarting Thunderbird resolves the issue indeed as long as I don't change the desktop theme after that (in which case I have to restart again to get any color changes effective). Is there any way to avoid that? The menus and other items pick up a desktop-theme change immediately, just those icons won't (mostly a discovery thing that you'll have to restart before seeing the "real thing").
Severity: major → minor
Summary: Header icons of the thread pane are invisible on Windows non-white high-contrast themes → Header icons of the aero thread pane may become invisible when changing to high-contrast themes
This should be solved with bug 940625
Depends on: 940625
With using inverted icons on dark backgrounds this issue should be solved.
