User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.7; rv:12.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/12.0 Build ID: 20120314195616 Steps to reproduce: I wrote a Firefox add-on following all the policies I could find on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/developers/docs/policies Actual results: I was rejected multiple times for policies that I didn't know about nor could I source in the policies documents on AMO. Upon checking with #amo-editors on IRC I found there is this page: https://wiki.mozilla.org/AMO:Editors/EditorGuide/AddonReviews Expected results: These policies should be front and center, especially the security related ones. Having them available will lower the number of resubmits since more often people will be able submit successfully the first time, as well as feel less frustration when rejected because they can see transparently what they did wrong. Also you'd be able to link to the specific rule in the canned message, possibly elaborating in more detail.
Added a few people to CC per discussion in #amo-editors.

I brought up internally merging the guidelines on wiki into the policy doc on AMO a few weeks ago so I'll take this.

We're planning on consolidating and cleaning up our policies early next year.

We've reached a consensus that these should be moved from AMO to MDN.
Whiteboard: [ReviewTeam] → [ReviewTeam:P1]
I suggest the move from AMO https://wiki.mozilla.org/AMO:Editors/EditorGuide/AddonReviews to the MDN https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Add-ons In the sidebar under: "PUBLISHING ADD-ONS". Perhaps splitting the document "Add-on guidelines" in to two pages: "Add-on guidelines" and "Add-on review Checklist".
Okay, so the policy cleanup and consolidation already happened. Here's what we have now: * General policies: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Add-ons/AMO/Policy * Specific policies for add-on reviews: https://wiki.mozilla.org/AMO/Reviewers/Guide (especially https://wiki.mozilla.org/AMO/Reviewers/Guide/Reviewing). * Listed / unlisted distinction: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Add-ons/Distribution * During submission there's a checklist shown after validation for common rejection cases. There is ongoing work in the policy docs, submission process, and validator code to make this even easier to follow. If there are specific issues left to resolve, please file follow up bugs.
