Having entered Reader Mode one will see the horizontal toolbar at the bottom of the browser-window. On scroll of content, the toolbar is closed. There is no obvious way to bring the toolbar back without knowing that tapping the article will bring it back. One might think to reload the page. Having tried to reload (should not have to) the toolbar did not come back either. I suggest we add a toast notification on entry of Reader Mode: "Tap the screen to show reader mode options..." Ian, thoughts?
Personally, I'd stay away from using toast too much. The toolbar will likely appear/disappear a few times while reading an article. Using the toast each time is overkill. I guess doing it one time is OK, but even that will be annoying, if we do it the first time for each article.
I agree, let's not overuse the toast. I could see the first time they enter Reader Mode and start scrolling to a point where the toolbar disappears, popping up a message once, and then no more after that.
Exactly what I had in mind
Ian, any input here?
Lucas, do you need more details than what I added in comment 2?

(In reply to Lucas Rocha (:lucasr) from comment #9) > [Approval Request Comment] > Reader-only fix. Adds a string. Reader is in the Firefox 16 roadmap. We're looking into the necessity of approving this string (w/ l10n impact) with the product team.
Update: I pinged product this morning.
I agree with Ian's comment 2, and as for necessity, I'd like to try getting this use case right (or as right as possible!) for Fx 16. It's a feature I'd like to promote in the community for this release, so deem this as necessary - with apologies to the l10n contributors for this critical (but important) change after string freeze.
Comment on attachment 645705 [details] [diff] [review] Show tip when toolbar hides for the first time in reader We need to start adhering to a proper string freeze, which is mozilla-central. Given that this isn't a blocking bug and is an enhancement, this can ride the trains once cycle in order to respect string freeze.
