Just saw this in Daily on Thunderbird, on Windows 7

(Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:18.0) Gecko/18.0 Thunderbird/18.0a1)

STR:

1) Select some text in an email
2) Deselect the text

What happens (sometimes):

A portion of the deselected text (or surrounding text) gets rendered in a way that is unreadable and strange. See screenshot.

What's expected:

Not that.
Sometimes I don't even need to select / deselect to trigger this. Scrolling can make it happen too.
Summary: Selecting and then deselecting text causes font to become mostly unreadable → Scrolling up, or selecting and then deselecting text causes font to become mostly unreadable
The last good Thunderbird Daily was on September 16, 2012. First bad Daily was September 17, 2012.

I'll see if I can generate a list of changes to mozilla-central during that time.
I'm guessing this is bug 788794

That was a good guess. Backing out that patch locally fixed the issue for me.

Marking as blocking 788794.
This should be fixed by bug 792993
