Given that the direct update is passing I wonder why it is failing. It's hard to check that for updates some days back given that we know get the offer for todays build. Chris, do you have an idea? Are the update snippets available when the pulse build notification gets pushed out?

I'm sure just a hick-up once the update channels have been opened. The direct update afterward worked well.

Daniela, it would be helpful if you could give us at least one link to the Jenkins report.

It has to be a build from today or late yesterday which doesn't get an update offered. Otherwise we can't manually check anymore.
All the latest comments here do not belong to the original reason why this bug has been filed. Instead those are the same as the newly filed bug 816470. Please check the console log of the update job very carefully to see what could be wrong. Feel free to ask me at any time if something is not clear. This bug here is only for updates which offered the same build as an update. Fixing the summary.

Alex, there is no reason to continue reporting failures here. It's clear what happens and we can't do anything about it until RelEng fixed it. See the whiteboard entry.
This should not be seen anymore due to the fix on bug 805812. If it still happens please let us know ASAP.

This is not fixed given test failures across platforms this morning for fr builds on the Aurora channel. It's happening for Windows and Linux but not OS X. I also think these failures were because localized builds haven't been updated since all localized builds failed with the same message. So try to do the update manually for those builds and check if the target build is available on the FTP server. If one of those things fails, we caught a real updater failure. A couple of those are on file (like bug 862724), so please report back here first.

So I strongly believe this is again related to wrong information in the pulse message due to multiple builds per day, which would be bug 858953. Actually our test is working and reporting correct failures due to the given releng issue.
