Task: I would like to get a (text-based) newsletter for Flicks 2013 participants set-up. Please help. Background: We wanted to reach-out to the Flicks 2012 participants (about 400 people) via email about Flicks 2013, but we aren't "allowed" as we haven't collected their addresses properly. Let's make it right this time! To-Dos: (via Winston) - Opt in forms needs to be developed - Lists must be set up in our email vendor (ExactTarget) - Work has to be done to integrate that into our preference center (we manage the pref center internally) - Newsletter template must be created by brand and sliced by web dev (I think this point is not necessary, as text-based emails will be plenty) Legal copy for website: These are possible sentences to be included in the Flicks video-submission-form behind an optional checkbox: (Via Stacy) * ___ I want to receive email updates about Mozilla's projects and campaigns. * ___ I wish to receive information about Firefox Flicks and Mozilla's other projects and campaigns via email. * ___ I want to receive emails about Firefox Flicks and other ways to help build a better Web. * ___ I want to receive email updates about Firefox Flicks. I personally prefer last one, but would add the word "occasional", as it won't be more than let's say 4 emails a year. Am I missing anything?
Thanks, Tobi. I'll set up the relevant info in ExactTarget.

Small change of plans: Instead of plain-text emails we'd like them to have a design now. = We need dev and creative work to be done here. Timing: Newsletter needs to be functional for Flicks Website R2, also the checkbox and text needs to be included into the submission form then. We won't send-out any emails in the first weeks, so the creation of the newsletter-design itself can take a little longer.
Thanks for the update, Tobi. Have you filed bugs for creative/web dev resources for newsletter?

Winston - I created to seperate bugs (see above). Do they look fine?
Summary: Set-up Newsletter for Firefox Flicks 2013 Contestants → [Flicks] [Main Bug] Set-up Newsletter for Participants
Looks good to me!
Hey! Hopping on here to help with the Exact Target integration. Questions before I file the integration webdev bugs: 1) The opt-in will be on the submission page? Do you know what the URL will be? 2) Do you want a welcome email? (Ie, as soon as someone submits and subscribes to the newsletter, do you want them to get a triggered welcome email?)
Hey Tobi, I was just chatting with Jess and they need the welcome e-mail copy asap. Let me know if you need a hand drafting it. If you give me key messages I can put it together. Cheers, C
Here are the list of bugs to make this happen: Bug 821681 - [Flicks] participants-newsletter template design Bug 821680 - [Flicks] [Dev Bug] Create participants-newsletter template Bug 829278 - [Flicks] Add email opt-in to Firefox Flicks Submission page Bug 829279 - [Flicks] Email Preference Center Bug 829282 - Welcome email for Flicks Bug 829291 - One-off Email to Firefox Flicks submitters in 2012
Are bugs 821681 & 821680 necessary? Note the question in the initial comment - > "Newsletter template must be created by brand and sliced by web dev (I think this point is not necessary, as text-based emails will be plenty)" -> so this request sounds like a plain-text email. If these steps are necessary or if we are doing an HTML email, do we have folks outside webdev that can handle the coding of the mail?
Thanks Jess!! Please let me know if you need anything... Ben - Yes, they are necessary after all. Sorry for the confusement. I created those bugs after my comment #2: "Small change of plans: Instead of plain-text emails we'd like them to have a design now. = We need dev and creative work to be done here."
OK understood. Winston do we have resources outside of webdev that could handle the production of the HTML for these emails?
Flags: needinfo?(wbowden)
We'd ask Silver Orange or Jess to code.
