STR
  1) Open the test case in bug 854070
  2) Tap in the edit box so that both selection monocles appear in the same position
  3) Pull one of the monocles off to the left or right, past the end of the edit box

You'll notice that the full word has not been selected; only the text from the edge of the edit box to the original position is selected.
